CHINA!

I have been doing a lot of research on China's stem cell treatment for ONH, and I am becoming more and more convinced.We also met an amazing family who took their baby girl, and swear by it. I want to take Mason by the time he is 2, after we see what is happening with his cyst and any needed brain surgery(see previous post). It's all very exciting to think about. The more blogs of parents and kids I read about their trip over seas to China, the more convinced I am that they really are making a difference. Here's the deal .. it will cost about $35,000 dollars for treatment, airfare, and food. I want to start fundraising, but I am not sure even where to begin.

I am getting to a point with Mason where we are doing everything we possibly can here, and I just want more for him. He deserves so much more. If there is an opportunity out there that will improve his vision even the slightest bit, and help him in his development, then we need to be doing that, because his future is priceless, and is everything to me. I will raise the money for what ever it costs and travel across the globe for Mason, my world. I'm ready for this!

Stem Cell

For the last few years, scientists and doctors have been doing stem cell research to try to find a cure for optic nerve hypoplasia.They have treated a few hundred patients..some successful, some successful over time, and with no success. I feel right now medical advancements are happening at such a rapid rate, by the time Mason is old enough for us to know more about the severity of his ONH, we will have stem cell transplant as an option. The cost of the procedure is about $20,000, and is only done in China right now. I hope to begin fundraising to raise money for Mason to one day undergo this treatment if he needs.
